- How can I use ICQ?
Click on to your preference / settings and look for the Connection section
Set the port number to "80"
Select "Not using Firewall"
Check the "Keep connection alive" tab
- How fast is my internet connection?
Each user is given up 128 Kbps internet connection. The speed may vary depending on the amount of people using the internet connection at one time
- Why can't I get 128 Kbps internet connection?
The more users using the internet connection, the more congested it will be. In a layman calculation this would means that REDtone has to provide 128 Mbps of bandwidth should there be 1000 user using the internet at once. (128 Kbps * 1000 = 128,000 Kbps = 128 Mbps). If you want such bandwidth, please suggest it to Sunway College because REDtone is only commissioned to provide X Mbps (we are unable to disclose this amount to you) amount of bandwidth.
- How do I register?
All registration is made in the building manager's office. You will have to supply them your MAC address.
- How do I find my MAC address?
Click on Start -> Run -> type “command” -> type “ipconfig/all” . You should see some characters that have this precedence of AA-BB-CC-DD-EE-FF
- How long will it take after the submission of the MAC address before my account is activated?
Please allow 2 days for such activation. Please click here to check if your MAC address have been activated.
- Can I apply for a faster internet connection from REDtone?
At the moment we are still in discussion with Sunway College to provide higher bandwidth internet connectivity to students who would like such services.
- Why I can't I download items from Kazaa, eDonkey, bitTorrent?
All this applications are banned from being used as this will drastically affect the broadband connection of others users. We also do not encourage such activities as file sharing and distribution is illegal.
- Why is my MAC Address still not activated after 2 days?
Please check with your building management whether the MAC Address keyed is correct.
